Have you wanted to simplify your data collection process with ControlPoint? Every time you have a new collection request - be it a Data Subject Access request, FOIA, or something else - wouldn't it be nice to reduce the number of steps needed to setup a target directory and policy?
Take advantage of a custom insert configuration to establish new target directories for each of your collection policies. Go a step further by building a policy template that has everything predefined for the policy except for a title and permissions. Let's take a look:
First establish an insert configuration that includes the policy name and a backslash. Ensure to set the clean name function on the policy name so that it doesn’t fail. Here’s the example:
Next establish a new target location pointing to a root path UNC share. Set the Insert Configuration to use the new one you previously established:
Now Create a Policy Template using Target Created above:
Finally create you’re your collection polices using the template. This is as simple as selecting the template when adding a new policy and then giving it a name. I have created two policies, one called ProjectCollection1 and another created PolicyCreation2:
Now apply both Policies to items and let execute. CP will create a folder in the UNC target location using the name of the Policy and then add the collected items to the folder:
